Indie Music PR

IDLES, a Prescription PR client

The Prescription team seem to exclusively work with great artists and both understand their roster and handle it with great care. That’s rarer than you might think and makes working with them a pleasure.
— David Renshaw, UK editor, The FADER

Our approach to indie music PR

Here at Prescription PR, what excites us most of all is that feeling of hearing something new for the first time and knowing that it’ll excite others.

Whether that’s a debut single from a new band, or a new album from an artist several albums into their career, that same excitement motivates us to do all we can to ensure that a new project reaches its potential.

At the time of writing, Prescription PR sits on the cusp of turning 10 years old. During that time, we’ve seen a lot of things come and go, and a lot of campaign standards and methods change.

Our adaptability, and appreciation for music in all its forms, has seen us continue to successfully develop artists — a number of which we’ve guided through self-released debut singles to signing deals with the likes of Rough Trade, Virgin EMI, Moshi Moshi, Partisan Records, Speedy Wunderground, Domino and more.

Working with Prescription PR took our band to a completely new level. The press these guys generated for the band helped us to set up a great touring infrastructure around The UK and Europe, and build a solid team around the band. Working with James, Ellie and Jay was always a pleasure and really easy. They genuinely cared about the band’s music, the band’s ideals and the band’s future. We couldn’t recommend them more.
— Girl Band (Rough Trade / Domino)

Our track record

One of indie music’s most notable success stories is that of IDLES, a band whose PR we started working on in 2016, whilst the group were still on their own label.

They’ve since signed an album deal with Partisan, landed a Top 5 UK album chart position, reached the top of Metacritic and secured the title of BBC 6 Music’s Album of The Year.

After Mercury Prize and Brits nominations, and sold out tours worldwide, late last year their second album “Joy As An Act Of Resistance” went silver, having sold over 60,000 copies in the UK.

We’ve also been handling the music PR for Dublin’s Fontaines D.C. — we’ve seen them go from being an unsigned band to releasing a top 10 debut album and selling out Brixton Academy.

We’ve also been working with Black Country, New Road, Dry Cleaning and The Murder Capital, bringing them their first magazine covers and generating significant buzz for them from the offset.

The Murder Capital have gone from releasing a debut single to achieving a top 20 UK album placing (not to mention a 5 star review from The Guardian) in little over six months.

In the last couple of years alone, we’ve organised cover features for our roster at DIY, Dork, Loud & Quiet, Upset, NME, CRACK, MOJO, Kerrang!, Louder Than War and So Young; and features across The FADER, Stereogum, Q, DAZED, Metro, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, Uncut, Time Out, The Line Of Best Fit and many more outlets.

As well as a roster of the most exciting new indie music talent, we also have a recent history of working with established and revered artists across the genre including Yeah Yeah YeahsGuided By VoicesInterpol, Black Lips, Sonic Youth, Andrew Weatherall, The Hold SteadyWHY?, Placebo and more.

Whether you’re taking your first steps into the media and need guiding through the various routes that will get you noticed, or you’re further into your journey and plotting a new album release and tour, we have the experience, knowledge and connections to help.
